Who we are

Faajii is operated by Trouve Tech Limited, registered at Lagos, Nigeria. For the purposes of data protection law, we are the data controller for the information described in this policy. You can reach us at contact@faajii.app.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account details — name, phone number, email address, password and profile photo.
• Event details — events you create or attend, guest lists, tasks, budgets, co-planners and vendors.
• Transaction details — tickets, store orders, gifts sent or received, wristband artwork and delivery addresses.
• Payment details — the Mobile Money or bank details used to pay or receive payouts. Full card or wallet credentials are handled by our payment partners, not stored by us.
• Identity information — where verification is required for payouts, an identity document and related details.
• Content — Vibes clips, photos, captions and messages you post.
• Support correspondence — what you tell us when you contact us.

Information collected automatically

• Device and usage data — device type, operating system, app version, IP address, pages and screens viewed, and approximate location derived from IP.

How we collect information

We collect information directly from you when you register, create an event, transact or contact us; automatically as you use the service; and from third parties such as payment providers (confirming a payment succeeded), and hosts or guests who add you to an event or guest list.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

• create and manage your account;
• run events — RSVPs, guest lists, ticket issuing and QR check-in;
• process payments, payouts, gifts and refunds, and maintain transaction records;
• fulfil store and wristband orders, including passing delivery details to print and courier partners;
• send service messages — confirmations, tickets, receipts, and security or account notices;
• provide support and investigate issues you report;
• detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse and security incidents;
• understand how the service is used so we can improve it; and
• meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We send marketing messages only where you have opted in or where permitted by law, and every marketing message includes a way to opt out.

Legal basis for processing

We process personal data where:

• it is necessary to perform our contract with you — running your event, issuing a ticket, settling a payout;
• you have consented — marketing messages, optional analytics, access to your camera or photo library;
• we have a legitimate interest — preventing fraud, securing the platform, improving the product; or
• we are under a legal obligation — tax, accounting and anti-money-laundering requirements.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. That does not affect processing already carried out.

How we share your information

We share personal information with:

• Event hosts — if you RSVP or buy a ticket, the host sees the details needed to admit and contact you.
• Guests — a host’s public event page shows the information the host chooses to publish.
• Payment providers — to take payment, verify identity where required, and make payouts.
• Print and delivery partners — wristband artwork and delivery details, limited to fulfilling your order.
• Technology providers — hosting, storage, analytics, messaging and customer support tools acting on our instructions.
• Authorities and advisers — where required by law, to establish or defend legal claims, or to investigate fraud.
• A buyer or successor — if the business is sold or reorganised, subject to this policy.

We do not sell your personal information. Where a gift is sent anonymously, we do not reveal the sender’s identity to the recipient, though we retain it internally for fraud, accounting and legal purposes.

Payments and financial information

Payments are processed by third-party providers, including Mobile Money operators. We receive confirmation of the outcome and the limited details needed to reconcile a transaction — such as the paying number, amount and reference — but we do not store full card numbers or your Mobile Money PIN. Your Faajii Purse transaction PIN is stored in a hashed form and is never visible to our staff.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences — including your chosen language, which is stored locally in your browser — and understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the service may not work properly without them.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described here. Account and event data is kept while your account is active. Transaction and financial records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically several years after the transaction, even if you close your account. Content you delete is removed from the service, though copies may persist briefly in backups.

Data security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, hashed passwords and PINs, and monitoring for unusual activity. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Protect your own account by using a strong password, keeping your PIN private, and telling us promptly about anything suspicious.

Your rights

Subject to the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you;
• have inaccurate information corrected;
• have your information deleted, where we are not required to keep it;
• object to or restrict certain processing;
• withdraw consent you previously gave;
• receive a copy of information you provided in a portable format; and
• complain to the relevant data protection authority.

To exercise any of these, email contact@faajii.app. We may ask you to verify your identity first, and we will respond within the period the law allows.

Children’s privacy

Faajii is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it. Hosts who invite minors to an event are responsible for obtaining any consent required.

Third-party links

Event pages, gift links and our website may link to third-party sites and social platforms. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies before sharing information with them.

International transfers

Some of our providers — hosting, analytics and messaging in particular — operate outside the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Where personal information is transferred abroad, we take steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard consistent with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, including using contractual safeguards with those providers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page and the “Last updated” date is revised. Where a change is material we will make reasonable efforts to notify you.
